Manchmal muss ich einfach verrückte Ideen umsetzen. Weil es Spaß macht und ich wissen möchte, ob es überhaupt funktioniert.
So wie bei dieser Borte. Ich habe keine Ahnung mehr, wer mir den Floh ins Ohr gesetzt hat, dass Dinosaurier doch tolle Motive wären und ich das unbedingt einmal weben sollte. Allerdings hatte die betreffende Person vermutlich nicht damit gerechnet, dass ich nicht nur Dinosaurier, sondern gleich eine ganze Landschaft mitweben würde.
Sometimes I just have to try out crazy ideas, simply because it’s fun and I want to find out whether they’ll actually work.
This band is a good example. I have no idea who put the idea into my head that dinosaurs would make great motifs and that I should try weaving them. However, I doubt that person expected me to weave not just dinosaurs, but an entire landscape as well.
Was so raffiniert aussieht, lässt sich in Doubleface-Technik recht einfach umsetzen. 36 Brettchen haben dafür völlig ausgereicht. So tummeln sich nun zwischen Landschaft, weißen Wölkchen und Flugsauriern auch einige der bekannteren Dinosaurier.
Ursprünglich wollte ich Baumwolle verwenden, hatte die passenden Farben aber nur in Wolle vorrätig. Also wurde es eine Wollborte. Einige Motive musste ich mehrfach weben, bis alles so aussah, wie ich es mir vorgestellt hatte. Insgesamt ließ sich die Borte aber erstaunlich schnell weben.

Although it looks quite sophisticated, the design is relatively easy to weave using the doubleface technique. Just 36 tablets were enough to bring it to life. The result features white fluffy clouds, flying reptiles, and some of the better-known dinosaurs roaming through the landscape.
I originally considered using cotton, but I only had the right colours in wool, so wool it was. I had to weave some motifs several times before everything looked right, but overall, the band was surprisingly quick to weave.
