When Grounded History shared a picture of an Icelandic band woven in double weave, I liked the pattern and colour combination so much that I wanted to weave it myself. However, instead of using the same technique as the original, I decided to weave it in doubleface.

The original comes from Iceland and was probably woven in double weave in the 18th or 19th century. Unfortunately, little else is known about it.

Writing the instructions didn’t take long, and by the next day I had already started weaving. Using 32 tablets and NM 20/2 wool yarn, I made a band that is 2.5 cm wide.
