Dieses Muster habe ich aus 'Ecclesiastical Pomp & Aristrocratic Circumstances' von Nancy Spies nachgewebt.
Viele Informationen zu der Borte, die im Besitz des Cleveland Museum of Modern Art ist, gibt es nicht. Als Ursprung wird 'Deutschland' genannt. Erhalten sind 2 Fragmente, die 34,3 und 21,9 cm breit sind.
Hier habe ich mit 11 Brettchen nur ein kleiner Teil der ursprünglich ca. 116 Brettchen breiten Borte nachgewebt worden.
I have re-woven this pattern from ‘Ecclesiastical Pomp & Aristocratic Circumstances’ by Nancy Spies.
There is not much information available about the band, which is in the collection of the Cleveland Museum of Modern Art. Its origin is said to be ‘Germany’. Two fragments have survived, measuring 34.3 and 21.9 cm in width.
Here, using 11 tablets, I have recreated only a small section of the original band, which was approximately 116 tablets wide.
Die Gesamtlänge des Bandes beträgt 56,2 cm (2 Fragmente mit 34,3 und 21,9 cm Länge)
Die Breite beträgt zwischen 3,7 und 3,3 cm.
Die Borte hat ein Streifenmuster, d.h. alle Brettchen wurden einfarbig aufgezogen und zwar:
11 gelbbraun, 2 braun, 21 gelbbraun, 2 dunkelbraun, 11 gelbbraun, 11 dunkelbraun, 11 gelbbraun, 2 dunkelbraun, 45 rotbraun
Schußfaden: rotbraune Seide (ca. 20 Fäden/cm)
Aufzug: abwechselnd in S und Z
Folgendes Material habe ich verwendet:
Kettfäden: Nähgarnleinen, weiß
Schußfaden: Nähgarnleinen, weiß
Broschierfaden: Realseide NM11
Mein Band ist 0,7 cm breit
The total length of the band is 56.2 cm (two fragments measuring 34.3 and 21.9 cm in length).
The width ranges from 3.7 to 3.3 cm.
The band has a striped pattern, i.e. all the slats were warped in a single colour as follows:
11 yellow-brown, 2 brown, 21 yellow-brown, 2 dark brown, 11 yellow-brown, 11 dark brown, 11 yellow-brown, 2 dark brown, 45 reddish-brown
Weft: reddish-brown silk (approx. 20 threads/cm)
Weaving: alternating S and Z
I used the following materials:
Warps: sewing thread linen, white
Weft: sewing thread linen, white
Embroidery thread: real silk NM11
