Obwohl der heilige Adalrich bereits 973 verstarb, wird diese Stola aus dem 15. Jahrhundert traditionell mit ihm in Verbindung gebracht. Sie wurde im Benediktinerkloster Einsiedeln gefunden und befindet sich heute in der Abegg-Stiftung in Riggisberg.
Although Saint Adalrich died as early as 973, this 15th-century stole is traditionally associated with him. It was found in the Benedictine monastery at Einsiedeln and is now held by the Abegg Foundation in Riggisberg.
Das Originalband ist 4,8 cm breit und wurde mit einer Kette aus weißem und blauem Leinen sowie einem weißen Leinenschuss gewebt. Broschiert wurde mit blauer, weinroter und gelber Wolle. Das Band besteht aus 35 Brettchen – 27 im Musterbereich und jeweils vier Randbrettchen auf jeder Seite. Alle Brettchen sind mit vier Fäden bezogen und abwechselnd in S- und Z-Stellung aufgezogen.
The original band is 4.8 cm wide and was woven using a warp of white and blue linen and a white linen weft. It was brocaded with blue, burgundy and yellow wool. The band consists of 35 cards – 27 in the pattern section and four border cards on each side. All the cards are threaded with four threads and threaded alternately in the S and Z positions.
Das weißgrundige Band wird von zwei schmalen blauen Randstreifen eingefasst. In Abständen von etwa 7 bis 9 cm erscheinen broschierte geometrische Motive, darunter Rauten, kastellartige Gebilde sowie menschen- oder baumähnliche Figuren.
The light-coloured background of the band is framed by two narrow blue border strips. At intervals of approximately 7 to 9 cm, embossed geometric motifs appear, including diamonds, castle-like structures and figures resembling people or trees.
Für meine Rekonstruktion habe ich einige Änderungen vorgenommen. Im Gegensatz zum Original ist das Grundgewebe einfarbig und hat keine Randstreifen und ich habe nur mit 33 Brettchen gearbeitet, derRand besteht aus drei statt vier Brettchen. Für die Kette habe ich blaue Realseide verwendet, der Schussfaden ist aus naturfarbenem Leinen. Als Broschierfäden kamen Gold- und Silberlahn zum Einsatz. Die fertige Borte ist 3 cm breit.
I have made a few alterations to my reconstruction. Unlike the original, the ground fabric is plain and has no border stripes, and I have worked with only 33 cards, with the border consisting of three cards instead of four. For the warp, I have used blue real silk; the weft is made of natural-coloured linen. Gold and silver thread were used for the brocade threads. The finished braid is 3 cm wide.
