Ein Fragment aus Oseberg (ohne Nummer)
Auf Seite 147 des Buches 'Osebergfunnet Bind IV' ist ein Bild von der Ausgrabung von 1904, das O.Vaering gemacht hat. Dort sind verschiedene Brettchengewebte Borten in Fundlage abgebildet. Es ist ein S/W Bild in einer guten Qualität. Nur die Fragmente sind in einer nicht so guten Qualität.
Deswegen ist es hier auch so schwierig eine gute Rekonstruktion zu machen, wenn man nur erahnen kann, was für eine Technik das ist und die Musterlinien auch nicht deutlich ausgeprägt sind.
On page 147 of the book 'Osebergfunnet Bind IV' there is a picture of the 1904 excavation made by O. Vaering. It shows various tablet-woven bands in the position in which they were found. It is a b/w picture of good quality. Only the fragments are not of such good quality.
That's why it's so difficult to make a good reconstruction when you can only guess what kind of technique it is and the pattern lines are not clearly defined.
Ich habe deswegen auch schon mehrere Rekonstruktionsversuche mit verschiednen Techniken gemacht. Bisher hatten alle das Ergebnis 'sieht ganz nett aus, passt aber nicht ganz'. Beim letzten Versuch als Missed Hole hatte ich schon den Verdacht gehabt, dass es nur ganz knapp daneben liege.
Mein jetztiger Versuch mit dem Islandic Missed Hole ist für mich so überzeugend, wie es halt mit einer so schlechten Vorlage geht. Es ist die beste Annäherung, die geht.
I have therefore already made several attempts at reconstruction using various techniques. So far, the result has always been 'looks quite nice, but doesn't quite fit'. With the last attempt as a missed hole, I had already suspected that it was only just off the mark.
My current attempt with the Icelandic Missed Hole is as convincing as it can be with such a poor source. It's the best approach possible.
Ich habe das Band mit 25 Brettchen gewebt, davon 21 Brettchen im Musterbereich. Als Garn habe ich NM 20/2 rote Wolle und Nel 28/2 Leinengarn verwendet. Die Borte ist 2,3 cm breit. Ich habe hier auch Nel 28/2 als Schussfaden verwendet. Ich hatte einen dünneren Schussfaden ausprobiert, aber das wirkte 'falsch'.
I wove the band with 25 tablets, 21 of them in the pattern area. I used NM 20/2 red wool and Nel 28/2 linen yarn. The band is 2.3 cm wide. I also used Nel 28/2 as the weft thread here. I had tried a thinner weft thread, but that looked 'wrong'.
