Several fragments of this band have been found:1.42 with 6,0 and 5,7 cm width and 1.45 with 9,7 x 2,8 cm width. It has been the border of a cloth, but it's not possible to find out if it is woven to the cloth or sewn to the cloth.

The band has been woven with wool and one of the coloures has been detected by dye-testing: indigotin (in this case woad). From the other colour has been no dye testing done but a fragment of the cloth has been detected by dye-testing with cermes so it is supposed that the tablet woven band has been done in the same colour and was blue and red.

The band has been woven with a minimum of 115 tablet an has a width of 5,5 cm. I didn't use as much tablets for the border and used only 100 tablets and did a witht of 4,5 cm. To achieve it I worked with silk as a didn't knew of a as  fine and sturdy wool at this time.

Time needed: for the pattern including weaving of several pieces I needed 6 month. The weaving of the 65 cm long band in NM22 silk took 2 years (but it was approx. 200 hours work). But as I'm not a 'intuitive' weaver in this technique and had to work with a pattern I can't say if it's possible to weave in shorter notice. But I had the advantage that I could use small cardboard tablets, you can see on the picture 'only' 50 wooden tablets.
