Ein Band aus London (No. 420)
Es handelt sich hier um eine Borte aus London, die ins späte 13 Jhd datiert wird.
Es ist ein schmales Band, das mit neun Brettchen gewebt wurde und zusätzlich mit Silberlahn broschiert wurde.
Die genaue Verwendung des Bande ist unbekannt, es hat keine Nahtspuren. Auch fehlen mir weitere Informationen zu den Fundumstände.
This is a band from London that dates to the late 13th century.
It is a narrow band woven with nine tablets and additionally brocaded with spun silver.
The exact use of the band is unknown, it has no traces of stitching. I also lack further information on the circumstances of the find.
Es ist nicht bekannt, welchen Farbton die Seide ursprünglich hatte, sie ist jetzt bräunlich. Ich habe hier mit 30/Seide, die mit Indigo gefärbt war mit Silberlahn und mit weißer Seide broschiert. ich persönlich bin mit der Silberlahnvariante nicht ganz glücklich, weil der Silberlahn schon zu dick war und Muster aus Kreisen und Kreuzen nicht zur Geltung kam. Aber meinem dünnerer Lahn war schon wieder zu dünn. In der Seidenvariante, wirkt das Muster besser.
Meine Arbeit ist 0,7 cm breit. Aber das Original war nur 0,4 cm breit.
It is not known what shade the silk was originally, it is now brownish. I used 30/2 silk, which was dyed with indigo, and brocaded with silver lahn and with white silk. personally, i am not entirely happy with the spun silver variant, because the spun silver was already too thick and the pattern of circles and crosses did not come into its own. But my thinner lahn was already too thin. In the silk version, the pattern looks better.
My work is 0.7 cm wide. But the original was only 0.4 cm wide
